I can’t believe that it has been 15 years already! I remember when the ITC Sonar building was under construction, there was so much curiosity amongst the general public. That time, Kolkata did not have too many luxury hotels so we were all very excited. My first visit to ITC Sonar took place soon after they launched and it was a visit to Peshawri. For the last 15 years, it has been one of my favorite hotels so I felt really special when the management invited me to be part of their Crystal Anniversary celebration. On this special occasion, ITC Sonar has come up with a range of offers for their patrons. One of them is called 15 Hours Nostalgia where you basically spend 15 hours in the hotel experiencing luxury at its best.
My 15 Hours Nostalgia experience took place two days ago and I can honestly say that it was one of the best days of my life. Not everyday does a chauffeur driven Mercedes Benz pull up in front of my house to pick me up. Not everyday do I have breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, evening drinks and dinner in a luxury hotel. Not everyday do I spend 4 hours in a luxury spa experiencing the best massage and facial ever.
15 Hours Nostalgia
Here’s a glimpse of how I spent 15 hours at ITC Sonar. This entire experience can be yours too at quite a reasonable rate of Rs 15000+ taxes per person.
The 15 Hours Nostalgia experience started off with a pick up from my residence in the ITC Sonar limousine at 8 am.
Breakfast at Eden Pavilion where I tasted Chef Merchant’s healthy and delicious creations like Pearl Millet and Coconut Milk Custard, Amaranth and Red Rice Pancakes, Buckwheat Cinnamon Roll French Toast, Cornmeal Waffle Benedict and Cold Pressed Juice Blends.
Signature Kaya Kalp Massage and Facial at the Kaya Kalp Spa. Jiriporn, my masseuse did such a great job that I actually started snoring in the middle of the session. I’ve also got a lot of ” Your skin is glowing” compliments since I got the facial done!
Lunch at Eden Pavilion once again. Since it was a Sunday, the special Friendship Day Sunday Brunch was on. I tried a few of Chef Merchant’s specials though and particularly loved the kababs and the pav bhaji platter with keema, egg bhurji and bhaji.
Desserts at the Fabelle Chocolate Boutique. The best chocolate and dessert place in the city. Undoubtedly!
Sugandha Head Oil Massage at the Kaya Kalp Salon. Again, 90 minutes of pure bliss. And snoring!
Afternoon Tea with tidbits at the Darjeeling Lounge. This lounge is open only to select guests in the hotel and they have a Happy Hours offer in the evenings on drinks and food.
A Classic Manhattan with Butter Garlic Prawns at West View Bar & Grill.
Last stop – Teppanyaki Dinner at Pan Asian. Chef Promod in the Teppanyaki Theatre cooked some great food for me with salmon, prawns, lobster and chicken.
Happy 15th anniversary ITC Sonar. Cheers to many many more ๐
