Remember the Katrina Kaif Aamsutra ads and her expression of pure bliss while drinking from the bottle? If I was not in the company of so many people at Khandani Rajdhani last week, I would have given the same expression while drinking their famous Aamras. That pretty much describes how good it was right?
Khandani Rajdhani at Park Street (next to Park Hotel) is celebrating the arrival of the king of fruits with the Aamlicious Festival, on till 15th June. Every day, 2-3 ripe and raw mango dish will be included in their regular thali and the dishes will keep changing everyday. So one day you might have Kairi Chana Dal Dhokla or Mango Kofta Pulao and another day, you might get Kairi Samosa Sabzi, Malabari Mango Kadhi or Mango Pachadi. The majestic Aamras will remain a constant throughout the course of the festival.
I was invited by Rajdhani to try out dishes from the Aamlicious festival and I can proudly say that not for once did I miss anything non-vegetarian during the meal. And coming from a hardcore carnivore, that says a lot about the food! In case you have not been to Rajdhani earlier, let me give you a warning. You will be served a lot of food! And I mean a lot of food! They have a thali system so a huge plate full of tiny bowls will be placed in front of you and the server will keep on filling the plate with an endless array of dishes.
I started off my meal with the refreshing Aam Panna and mango lassi and then moved on to starters – sandwich dhokla, kairi samosa, various chutneys, a raita which had pieces of mango, aam ki launji (fingerlicking good!) and a surprisingly light dal, bati, churma with a generous dollop of ghee. And that was not all! Next up were the Gujrati kadhi, khichdi, two types of dal, a paneer and a palak dish served with roti, phulka and rice. I was recommended to try the aamras with the phulka and what a brilliant combination that was. Don’t miss out on trying it when you are at Rajdhani. For dessert, we had a lauki kheer but I could not see beyond the mango jalebi. I had four of them. Yes, even after consuming all that food. Yes, the jalebis were that good!
A meal at Khandani Rajdhani is simple, wholesome, delicious and total value for money. All of that food is within Rs 450, even on weekends so go and make the most of your summer with Khandani Rajdhani’s special Aamlicious thali. It is so worth it!
