I’ve recently become very particular about taking care of my skin. Not that I use a ton of products but I’ve become a bit more diligent about following a routine. Also, I’m making a conscious choice to move over to natural products in both skin and hair care. One brand that I’ve been trying out recently is Alanna. In their words “All our products are handmade and are made only in small batches so that we can keep the quality of products in control along with the feel of freshness. Our products are essential oil based and there are no artificial fragrances used. Each and every ingredient that goes inside the product is carefully selected and it is there for a specific therapeutic reason”. Read on to know more about the products that I’ve been trying out and what I think of them.
Aloe Avocado Body Butter (Rs 550) – This light body butter includes Aloe, Avocado and Eucalyptus Oil as active ingredients. It claims to prevent dryness, reduce wrinkles, protect against the sun and make the skin supple. The eucalyptus oil cools and soothes the skin. I like the body butter because it hydrates without leaving my skin greasy or oily. Can’t say if it reduces wrinkles but it does a good job in preventing dryness.
Anti-Blemish Body and Face Scrub (Rs 200) – Sulphurless Castor Sugar, Lemongrass Essential Oil, Coconut Oil and Olive Oil are the key ingredients of this scrub. I’ve recently become very particular about scrubbing my face and arms atleast once a week and I am quite liking this scrub. The granules are not too harsh yet they do an effective job in removing the dead cells to reveal a bright and glowing complexion. Also, after washing off, it does not make the skin dry.
Rose & Grape seed Face Mist (Rs 200) – I love anything that has roses in them. Period. This mist includes a mix of rose essential oil, grape seed oil and rose water. I’m actually saving this product for the cruel summer months but I’ve tried it a couple of times and I love how good it smells and how it freshens up the skin. This will definitely become a handbag staple.
Golden Glow Face Pack (Rs 500) – This face pack is made of turmeric powder, aloe vera and avocado oil and is especially good for dry skin. It does a good job in brightening up the complexion and I’ve not faced any skin irritation or breakouts.
Lemonade Lip Scrub ( Rs 150) – My dry, flaky lips love this product! The sugar does not feel too harsh when applied and the lemon smell is quite refreshing. Just a minute of scrubbing and I am left with smooth and plump lips.
Under-eye Gel ( Rs 250) – I’ve only used the under-eye gel couple of times till now so can’t really say if it is effective or not. However, I like that the gel is not greasy and that it hydrates the under-eye area quite well. I need to use it for atleast a month or so to figure out if it actually corrects puffiness, dark circles and fine lines.
Nimba Tailam Anti-Dandruff Hair Oil ( Rs 600) – This oil is made of olive oil, sweet almond oil and apple cider vinegar. I don’t have dandruff so I can’t say if it is effective in removing it but I have used the oil to massage the scalp and I’ve noticed that my hair feels a lot softer after rinsing off.
Overall, I am quite happy with the products from Alanna. The products are said to be cruelty free, paraben and sulphate free with no artificial color or fragrance. Most importantly, they work and are priced very reasonably. For more information on the brand and to buy the products, check out the Alanna website.
