Ask any dermatologist or skin specialist for skincare tips and number 1 will be the regular use of sunscreen. We all know how important it is but many of us (including me) tend to skip applying sunscreen for just one reason; it makes the skin oily, greasy and prone to sweat specially if you have oily skin. If you’ve been skipping sunscreen for these reasons, rejoice because Avène has reformulated their SunSitive Range with a new Dry Touch texture that’s perfect for oily to combination skin in hot and humid weather conditions!
Squeeze the Emulsion from the specially created air-free tube… you’ll feel the difference in the texture as soon as it’s on your skin. The lightweight formula sits easily even when liberally applied (as it should be, for the best and most complete protection) and lets your skin breathe easily too. It’s transparent on application, so you won’t have that unnatural white cast or spots. Moisturising yet non-sticky, it offers a mattifying effect so your skin appears natural and nourished.
What makes Avène New Dry Touch Emulsion so special?
- Has a very high SPF of 50+
- Paraben free, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic
- Stays for a long time
- Prevents skin damage
- Soothes skin because of the presence of thermal spring water
My Thoughts on the Product
If there’s one brand that I blindly trust when it comes to skincare, it is Avène. Their Thermal Spring Water is a summer staple and I’ve always loved their sunscreens. The emulsion comes in an orange tube with a pump dispenser, which is very convenient.
The texture is creamy and it takes a bit of effort to blend into the skin. I love that unlike most sunscreens, this one does not leave a white cast when applied. Initially, your skin will feel slightly greasy but once the product sinks in, you won’t even realise you’ve got sunscreen on. Even though I have dry skin, most sunscreens break me out into a sweat and I hate that! This one does not yet but I’m waiting to see how it performs in May-June, when it gets really hot and humid in Kolkata. If it passes the test then, this will be my Holy Grail sunscreen! I’ll let you know :).
Sunscreens are meant to be reapplied after every 2-3 hours specially if you are outside. I’m guilty of never doing that and that’s where the emulsion really scores. It lasts for nearly 4 hours on my skin and I have not seen any breakouts, irritation or skin tanning.
The Avène New Dry Touch Very High Protection SPF50+ Emulsion is a perfect sunscreen for those with oily and combination skin. It provides adequate protection while keeping the skin oil and sweat free. I recommend!
