There are matte lipsticks and there are Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution lipsticks. I have the shade Amazing Grace and believe you me, this matte lipstick is by far the best matte lipstick I have used till date and I have used quite a lot! Makeup Artist extraordinaire Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup range was launched last year and people have not stopped raving about her products. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some of these beauties for a while now but never did I imagine that I would get them so suddenly. One of my best friends from school who now lives in London visited Kolkata a couple of weeks back and knowing about my makeup addiction, got for me Amazing Grace and the Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette which I’ll show you later. Let’s talk about Amazing Grace today.
Charlotte describes her Matte Revolution lipsticks as “Enriched with new-generation 3D glowing pigments for lips that look lit-from-within and an optical ‘matte-trick’ to create the appearance of wider, fuller lips.” These lipsticks are supposed to give the matte, modern look without the typical drying formula that most matte lipsticks have.
The rose gold metal case is exquisite and has “Glamorous” and “Luxurious” written all over it. While I love modern and sleek designs there is something about a vintage ‘ey’ packaging that is so alluring. Makes me feel like a 1920’s Hollywood movie star when I take this lipstick out and apply it to my lips! The square angled shape is quite unique and it fits into every corner of the lips so the end result is an even application.
The texture is pure magic. It is not your regular matte lipstick. It has got an almost powder like texture, is very lightweight, quite creamy and applies smoothly. There is no tugging, pulling or dragging. The lipstick is well pigmented and goes opaque in a couple of swipes. Charlotte says that lips look lit-from-within when you apply this lipstick. There is no shimmer but it does add a slight hint of light which I know is strange to read but you will know what I’m talking about when you try one of this. The lipstick is not the most long lasting one and I get about 5 hours but the good thing is that it does not feather, bleed or transfer and I don’t mind topping it up a couple of times. Amazing Grace is described as a “vintage tea rose‘ inspired by Grace Kelly but on me, it is more of a rose with coral undertones. I love the color and it is a beautiful day shade.
I have my eyes set on a few more shades from the Matte Revolution range like Love Liberty and Red Carpet Red but availability is an issue and so is the price. They are $32 each and is definitely not ‘bank balance friendly’ but they are soo good!
