One of the most exciting launches of 2015 was definitely the Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. At $6 (around Rs 400 when converted), they are one of the cheapest liquid lipsticks in the market. The only issue is availability in India. Colourpop does not ship to India so if you want to get their products, you have to rely on folks coming over from the US or local sellers. I’ve been wanting to try Colourpop for ages and without the help of S’s sister, it would have never been possible. Thank you so much Di for bringing them to me 🙂
The two ultra matte liquid lipsticks I got are Scrooge, a fall launch and StingRaye, created in collaboration with popular youtuber, ItsMyRayeRaye. Scrooge is a bright hot pink and StingRaye, a mauve brown. The Ultra Mattes have a light, watery texture, are very pigmented and last for a really long time. I’ve read that some of the shades can go on patchy and they crack on the lips but thankfully Scrooge and StingRaye do not give me those problems. They are drying though so you do need to exfoliate lips and prep them with a balm before applying. I like that the texture is watery because it gives me better control while applying and does not feel too heavy on the lips but it does take some time to dry. One tip I can give you is not to press your lips while applying. Put a layer on the top lip, wait for it to dry, put it on the lower lip, wait for it to dry and then apply a second layer for the color to set in. This way, it lasts much longer and the color does not move around while setting. I’m very happy with these shades and I’m planning to get a few more.
If you want to buy Colourpop in India, check out two IG sellers – @lachicwick and @shopyouraddiction. They charge Rs 899 and Rs 800 respectively for the Ultra Mattes which I know is a lot more than $6 but what to do :(.
Here are the swatches of Scrooge and StingRaye.
