I can’t keep calm because Durga Pujo is here! In fact, I’m already done with one night of pandal hopping and looking forward to more over the next few days. If you are not from Kolkata or if you’ve never experienced Pujo here, it is kinda hard to explain what this festival means to us Bengalis. It is five days of celebration, adda, ‘notun jama pora’, ‘thakur dekha’, ‘khawa’ and ‘moja kora’. Sleep takes a back-seat and food is on top of the agenda. Everyone wants to look their best during Pujo and I am no different. I visited the Kama Ayurveda store in Quest Mall recently to ask for advice on what products I should use for my combination skin to make it glow this Pujo. Read on to find out what I was prescribed and my skincare routine.
Durga Pujo Skincare Routine With Kama Ayurveda
Turmeric and Myrrh Skin Brightening Soap (Rs 525) – The first step of a skincare routine is cleansing and for my combination skin with issues of pigmentation, I was advised to try out this soap. Just like all of you, even my question was “Isn’t soap bad for the facial skin”? I was told that the Kama Ayurveda soaps are not because they are made with ingredients like cold pressed extra virgin coconut oil, natural bees wax and other essential oils. Because of this the soaps are very gentle on the skin and do not make the skin dry. The Turmeric and Myrrh soap contains the essence of turmeric which lightens skin, reduces pigmentation and has antiseptic properties. The Ayurveda based formula is blended with Indian ficus extracts of banyan, common fig and peepal for purifying the skin. Coconut oil, bees wax and essential oils of neroli, myrrh and frankincense nourish and regenerate the skin cells.
Pure Lavender Water (Rs 725) – After cleansing, I was advised to use the Pure Lavender Water as a toner. This product I have used earlier and I love it. It works as a great toner for combination skin, a refreshing and soothing face mist, a moisturiser and I also add it to powder face masks to make the paste.
Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub (Rs 1195) – Cleansing and toning done. Next step is to exfoliate and brighten the skin and for that, I was recommended the Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub. Kumkumadi oil is one of Kama Ayurveda’s most iconic products. This scrub is made with that oil and contains 12 ingredients that help in ‘illuminating the complexion, smooth fine lines and renew skin cell growth‘. It also has saffron and ground sweet almonds that give a glowing complexion. The scrub was given the title of Best Exfoliating Product at the Vogue Beauty Awards and I totally understand why. I’ve used the scrub before and love how it cleanses, smoothes and moisturises the skin. The texture is light and non-sticky and it works to lighten tan, pigmentation and acne spots. This is the ideal product to rejuvenate the skin after long nights of pandal hopping!
Lavanya Natural Plant Mask – After exfoliating with the Kumkumadi Brightening Face Scrub, I was advised to apply this mask. It is described as a detoxifying and deep cleansing face mask that leaves the skin smooth, refreshed and refined. I mix in the lavender water in the powder for added benefits.
Rejuvenating and Brightening Ayurvedic Night Cream – The last step of my routine is applying a night cream to take care of my skin while I am sleeping. And i was told that the Rejuvenating and Brightening Ayurvedic Night Cream helps to do just that. I’ve been using it for the last two days and love the mild saffron scent and the fact that the cream feels so luxurious yet it is not greasy and absorbs into the skin easily. The cream contains ingredients like Saffron, Indian Madder, Aloe Vera, Vetiver, Lotus and Liquorice that helps to brighten skin, repair pigmentation and retard the process of aging. I will share my thoughts on this in detail after using for some more days.
I’ve been following this routine for the last couple of days and my skin is feeling quite good. I’ll always recommend Kama Ayurveda products because it is a brand that I trust and I’ve used their products earlier as well to great results.
