Bindiya Rawal always had a keen interest in Ayurveda and natural remedies. She used to experiment in the kitchen making face packs and oils with natural ingredients that are easily available at home. When results of her experiments started to show on her skin and hair, people got inquisitive to know about her hair and skin care regime. As a result, she started giving out samples to her friends and family. The products received great response and that led to the creation of the brand Herbal Me, dedicated toward bringing 100% natural and chemical-free beauty products to consumers. I have been trying out two products from the brand – Herbal Hair Oil and the Herbal Toning Oil. Read on to know my thoughts on each of them.
Herbal Me Herbal Hair Oil (Rs 450) – A classic blend of natural oils and herbs that will not only fix your hair problems but also enhance the quality of your tresses. The rich mix of almond, Coconut, Olive and Sesame Oils, all delicately infused with the goodness of Methi seeds, will put a stop to your hair fall. Curry leaves being anti-greying, Amla for anti-dandruff and Pudina for the extra bounce and shine along with several other nourishing herbs in the blend making this a perfect answer to all your hair troubles. Finally, the goodness of active herbs like khas khas root, devadaar wood, samangi seed, henna leaves, avaranam flowers, rose petals, marod phali (helicteres isora) and dry amla will make the oil better and better as you use it.
I’ve always been quite particular about my hair care regime. While I am fine with using regular shampoos and conditioners, when it comes to hair oils, I apply either pure coconut oil or a herbal oil. Hence, this Herbal Me Herbal Hair Oil got my attention immediately once I went through the ingredients. Since the plastic bottle is transparent, you can actually see the herbs and the roots inside.
The smell of the oil is quite pleasant and it is not too thick which means that it washes off without too much of a hassle. I heat it up slightly and massage the oil to the scalp and ends of my hair and keep it overnight. Next day, I wash it off with a mild shampoo. I’ve been using the oil for about three weeks now and I’ve noticed that the amount of hair fall I used to experience has reduced slightly. Also, my hair has good volume now and it looks thicker. I have the problem of premature greying so I’m hopeful that the oil can atleast arrest that problem. Will need to try it out for a few more weeks to see whether it works. Till now, I’m happy with the results.
Herbal Me Herbal Toning Oil (Rs 450) – A unique blend of essential oils of orange, juniper berry and coffee in extra virgin olive oil that aims to tone and firm your body. Orange oil being diuretic, relieves fluid retention. Juniper berry oil flushes out toxins which can cause cellulite thus firming and toning the skin. Coffee exfoliates and removes dead skin and makes it silky smooth and bright. All this is mixed in extra virgin olive oil which is rich in antioxidants and vitamins.
This oil I’ve just started using so not really sharing a full-fledged review. Usually herbal body oils smell really bad but this one smells of oranges! And it is also quite light so absorbs into the skin fast and does not leave an oily film on top of the skin. I obviously have a cellulite problem so I’m eager to see if this oil can do something about it. What I’m liking is the fact that it moisturizes the skin very well. I apply the oil after taking a shower and I’m set for the day without the need to apply a lotion later. So far, so good!
