Finally I tried the new Lakme 9to5 Primer + Matte Lipsticks. I have five shades out of the 30 that are available. Read on to know my thoughts on the lipsticks and to see the swatches.
About Lakme 9to5 Primer + Matte Lipsticks
The new Lakmé 9to5 Primer+ Matte lipsticks have an inbuilt primer that form the perfect base to get even strokes of colour. The In built primer allows the lipsticks to look flawless and matte for 12 HOURS NON-STOP.
Priced at Rs.480, these lipsticks are perfect for the multitasking, non-stop woman of today. One product to treat your lips to the smoothness of a primer and rich colours of a lipstick at the same time.
Tall claims by the brand but how true are they?
The rose gold packaging makes these lipsticks look very pretty no doubt. The problem is that the packaging is quite flimsy. The bullet base is a bit loose so you have to be careful while applying the lipstick.
I love the texture. It is a matte but it does not suck out every bit of moisture from the lips. It applies smoothly, feels weightless and very comfortable. Pigmentation is quite decent too but it is not consistent. Out of the five shades I’ve tried, three are great but two shades apply very patchy. Even if I swipe 2-3 times, they do not go opaque.
The brand claims that these lipsticks last for 12 hours non-stop. They don’t. Atleast not on me. They last the usual 4-5 hours without eating or drinking. The lipsticks are not transfer-proof either. However, they fade evenly and leave a light stain behind which I quite like.
The shades that I have are:
Cherry Chic – A brown with red undertones
Rosy Sunday – A brown with pink undertones. This is my favorite and is great to wear to work
Cabernet Category – Medium berry brown
Rosy Mind – Warm rose pink. Washes me out and applies slightly patchy
Saffron Gossip – A neon orange. This absolutely does not go with my skin tone and is terribly patchy. Least favorite of the lot.
Here are the lip swatches. No edits, 100% natural. This is exactly how these lipsticks look on my NC 43.5 skin tone.
At Rs 480, the Lakme 9to5 Primer + Matte Lipsticks are not a bad buy. They have a beautiful texture and the shades are quite vibrant and pretty. From reds to pinks to browns, there is a shade for everyone. I wish they were more long-lasting.
Have you tried this new range? What do you think of the lipsticks?
