Lakme Fashion Week means two things – five days of non-stop fashion and launch of new Lakme makeup! Summer/Resort LFW 2015 gave us the Sculpt Matte Lipsticks and the recently concluded Winter/Festive edition launched the new Lakme Absolute Lip Pouts, matte lip tints in crayon form. When Lakme sent out the press release for these sometime back, I fell in love with the bright shades. Two shades I wanted in particular and I got them last week at New U, Salt Lake City Centre. They are Magenta Magic, a beautiful mix of magenta and purple and Victorian Rose, a pink, coral and orange mix.
It’s time for the backstage trend to take center stage as Lakme introduces its very own playful take on lip tints. Say hello to Lakmé Absolute Lip Pouts – a chubby lip color pencil that gives you a luscious tint with a scintillating matte finish. Very similar to the Revlon Colorburst Matte Lip Balms. The only difference is that the Lip Pouts have a silver cap and are a tad slimmer in appearance.
The first time I applied the Lip Pouts, I was not too impressed with the application. The texture is kinda ‘plasticky’ and waxy and therefore not as smooth as applying a lipstick. There was some amount of tugging and pulling involved to get an even application and it was rather uncomfortable. The second time, that was not the case. Dunno if it is the same with all the Lip Pouts but I’m guessing the tip of the pencil turns soft only on the second application. Since it is a matte, it does go on slightly dry but not the ‘sucking out all moisture from the lips’ type dry.
Lakme calls them lip tints but the pigmentation is as good as a regular matte lipstick.
Really good! I get atleast five hours without fading and when it does, leaves behind a tint that stays on for another 1-2 hours.
Will I recommend the new Lakme Lip Pouts?
Yes I will specially the two shades I picked up. I’m also glad that Lakme has kept the price reasonable. If you love bright matte lip colors, you should try out this range. Yes, they are slightly drying but then, all mattes are. The shades are beautiful and they stay on really long.
