One of the most common lipstick related concerns that most of us have is “Which nude lipstick will work on my skin tone without making me look sick or washed out“? With the new Lakme Absolute Reinvent Nudes Collection, the answer to that question is here. The collection not only includes six new nude shades in the Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lip Color range but also an eyeshadow palette, kohl pencils, nail colors and mousse foundation, all of which are created to suit the Indian skin tone. I received the PR package yesterday so need some time to play with the products but if you want to know my first impression of them and take a look at the swatches, read on.
Lakme Absolute Reinvent Nudes Collection
New Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lip Colors:
With the ‘Reinvent Nudes’ theme, Lakme has added six new shades to the range—Pink Tint, Caramel Custard, Mauve It, Soft Beige, Juicy Plum and Burnt Brown; colors that work beautifully with the nude theme. I’ve not worn the lipsticks yet but when I was swatching them, I was really impressed by the pigmentation and the soft, creamy texture. When we think of nude lipsticks, the only colors that come to mind usually are various shades of brown and brown mixed with either pink or mauve. These are a twist on the traditional nude/brown shades and I love what Lakme has come up with. Anyone and everyone can wear these colors and look good in them. Here are the swatches.
Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Mousse-Hydrating
There are six shades of this foundation – Velvety Beige, Natural Almond, Ivory Cream, Honey Dew, Nat Cinnamon and Walnut Tan for fair, medium and deep complexions. I received the shade Walnut Tan and it looks to be a good match for my NC43.5 skin tone. Lakme says that the foundation is enriched with 34% water to hydrate the skin and give a natural, dewy look. While swatching, I liked the light, almost weightless texture. Will see how it fares on the face and the level of coverage it provides.
Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette, Nude Beach
Nude Beach has a good mix of warm and cool toned shades in matte and metallic finish. The brighter colors have better pigmentation than the lighter ones and my favorites are the metallic gold, the blue/purple and the dark burgundy/brown. This palette will work for both day and night time looks and I can’t wait to create a look using it. The eyeshadows are slightly powdery though and I’m hoping they don’t have fallout issues.
Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate Kajals
The Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate Kajal in black has been a perennial favourite. With this collection, Lakme has added five new shades and I have three – Royal Purple, Silver Slate and Bronze Rust. They are metallic colors and pigmentation is quite good. I’ll have to check how they look on the eyes and how long they last.
Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Colors
If you love playing with nail colors, there are new shades in the Absolute Gel Stylist range. I have the shades Silk Caramel, which is gorgeous and Peach Sorbet, which is slightly light for my skin tone.
- Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lip Colors are priced at ₹750 each
- Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette, Nude Beach is priced at ₹950
- Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist Nail Colors are priced at ₹400 each
- Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Mousse—Hydrating is priced at ₹750 each
- Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate Kajals are priced at ₹750 each.
That’s it for this post. Overall, I am quite impressed with the products but I feel the pricing is too high. The foundation is only 15 ml and priced at Rs 750 which is not a good deal at all. Even the eye pencils are Rs 750! Why Lakme?? 🙁
A more detailed review of each product is coming up soon along with a makeup look so stay tuned.
