There is a new range of matte lipsticks available in 20 vibrant shades and they are super affordable! I am talking about the Lakme Enrich Matte Lipsticks, priced at Rs 295 each. I have four shades from the range – PM11, RM13, WM10 and OM11.
The packaging of these lipsticks is nothing fancy. The clear plastic case makes it easy to figure out the color because these lipsticks unfortunately have no names, only numbers. This is something that I find very irritating and I don’t understand why brands do not name the lipsticks. I guess it is easier to just put in a number but for us consumers, that number is hard to remember specially if we have quite a few from the same range. I am guessing the PM, RM, WM and OM stands for pink, red, wine and orange matte.
These lipsticks are not 100% matte though. The texture is a mix of matte and cream and I like it. True mattes can be very drying but these lipsticks have a nice, smooth texture. The shades that I have, they apply very well and the formula feels quite comfortable on the lips. Pigmentation is also good and a couple of swipes will give an opaque coverage. The lipsticks settle to a slight creamy matte finish that is neither glossy nor too matte. They do have a tendency to settle into fine lines so it is good to exfoliate and moisturize lips beforehand. I expected these to have a better staying power though. The color lasts for only 3-4 hours and that too if I’m not eating or drinking.
These are the shades that I have:
- PM11 – a bright pink. This one applies slightly patchy compared to the rest of the shades
- RM13 – a deep burgundy
- WM10 – a purple wine shade.
- OM11 – a burnt orange. This color is my favorite out of the four!
Overall, these Lakme Enrich Matte lipsticks are worth buying. The color palette is beautiful and all of them compliment the Indian skin tone. The formula is comfortable to wear and the most important thing is that these are so reasonably priced. Just wish the staying power was better.
