Forgive me father for I have sinned! I had pledged to stay away from makeup for at least a couple of months but MAC launched the Pencilled In & Isabel and Ruben Toledo collections back to back and I broke down :(. Well, that I guess will continue to be the story of life!
There was a lot of hype surrounding the MAC Isabel and Ruben Toledo collection and predictably, got sold out in Kolkata within days of its launch. Everyone went ga ga over the lipsticks and while all of them looked great, I was not too enthusiastic because the colors were nothing new. Same old reds albeit in a different very cool packaging. The only color I was interested in was Sin, a gorgeous dark blood red. All the bloggers said Sin was the worst of the lot in terms of texture but I had to have that stunning color so instead of the lipstick I picked up the Sin Lipglass (Rs 1600). The lipstick is permanent btw.
Was it a good choice? Ummm in terms of texture and finish, No. It goes on very uneven and blotchy if applied on its own and also feathers slightly. It gets better if layered on top of a lip liner or lipstick. The MAC Lipglass formula is slightly thick but it is not sticky and is moisturising. Because of the thickness, these stay on for a longer time than other lip glosses. Was it a good choice in terms of color? Oh yes. I love that dark blood red and it is a color that really looks good on my skin tone. Not really a summer color but then who cares. And how cool are the illustrations by Ruben Toledo?
