For anyone who loves smokey eyes, the Urban Decay Naked Smoky is the ultimate eyeshadow palette. I’ve been lusting after it ever since the palette released but I wasn’t ready to shell out nearly Rs 5000 either so I decided to settle for the cheaper alternative, the Makeup Revolution Iconic Smokey Palette.
It’s Iconic. It’s Smokey. Iconic Smokey is here.
12 smoked shades from grey to browns and blacks for the perfect smokey eye taking you from day to night. Highly pigmented and blendable shades and complete with our Pro double ended eye shadow brush made of the finest synthetic hair for easy application.
Price – £6.00. I got it from Flipkart for around Rs 1000 (Flipkart does not have this anymore). Makeup Revolution is available at Amazon, Jabong, Habbana and Nykaa.
Packaging – Like all Makeup Revolution palettes, this one is sleek, black and not bulky . Inside, there is a large mirror and a double ended eyeshadow brush. One end with the firm bristles help to pat the color on the lids and the other end with the softer bristles help to blend. The brush is not bad. Picks color well and also does a decent job in blending.
Shades – There is a good mix of matte and shimmery colors ranging from light rose gold, pale beige to dark brown, purple, grey and black. The colors are great for creating both day and night looks.
Pigmentation – I won’t say its amazing. The shimmery shades have better pigmentation than the matte ones. The matte shades are also powdery and have a bit of fallout. You will need to pack on the shadows atleast a couple of times for the colors to really show even if you are using a primer.
Staying Power – With a primer, they stay for nearly 4-5 hours before fading. Without a primer, I get around 3 hours.
I don’t have the UD Smoky palette so can’t really do a comparison of the two. In the Makeup Revolution Iconic Smokey palette, I don’t like the quality of all the shades but as I mentioned, the darker shimmery shades are nice. At the price, it is a decent buy.
