When Maybelline first launched the Baby Lips range of lip balms in India, I was slightly disappointed with the packaging. The international version looked so cute with the transparent cap and what we got was a simple twist up variant. But with the latest Baby Lips Electro Pop Lip Balms, that cute packaging is here with an added neon funkiness to them.
The Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop range of lip balms is said to have more colour than the regular line and are available in four shades – Pink Shock, Berry Bomb, Oh Orange and Fierce N Tangy and I got the last two to try out. Oh Orange is priced at Rs 165 and Fierce N Tangy at Rs 135.
In terms of texture, I like these better than the original Baby Lips. I find them smoother and creamier. Also, I like that even in winter, these balms do not feel hard and just glide on the lips. If you like scented lip balms, you will love the smell because they will totally remind you of lemon and orange candy. The staying power is also quite impressive. They stay on my lips for around 5-6 hours. I’ve also been applying these balms at night before going to sleep and in the morning my lips still feel hydrated.
While I am all praise for the texture, staying power and hydrating properties, can’t say the same for colour payoff. Fierce N Tangy is a non-tinted balm so do not expect any colour but I had hoped for a bit more colour out of Oh Orange. The orange tint can hardly be seen on my pigmented lips and that’s quite a disappointment. With a name like Electro Pop, I thought these balms would pack on a bit more punch. I’ve heard that Pink Shock and Berry Bomb give better colour payoff though.
If you are looking for pocket-friendly lip balms with cute packaging and good moisturising properties, try the new Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop range. Just don’t expect much colour out of these two.
