In September, among other new launches, Oriflame has come out with The One Power Shine range of lipsticks available in eight shades of red, brown, pink and berry. The Power Shine lipsticks are priced at Rs 335 each and in this post, I’ll talk about two shades – Raspberry Sorbet, a light raspberry and Cocoa Burst, a light brown .
Medium coverage lipstick in pearly shades with ultra-reflective MetaShine pearls for amplified shine. Infused with caring LipKiss Complex for softer, smoother lips and even more shine.
I’ve always been partial to cream and matte finishes and have stayed away from anything shiny, glittery or shimmery. And from the name and description of these lipsticks, it is apparent that they have all the characteristics that I tend to avoid. I tried Raspberry Sorbet and Cocoa Burst with much apprehension but have started loving them for a number of reasons. Here goes.
- The lipsticks have a fruity fragrance and it is actually quite refreshing after a barrage of vanilla scented lip colors
- Power Shine has an equal blend of glitter and sheen together so you don’t get that ‘over the top’ residue of gloss, or that harshness from the glitter particles
- They are medium coverage lipsticks and go on quite light on the lips so the shimmer/glitter is not too obvious. The lips don’t sparkle like a glitter ball and I’m really glad for that
- They just glide on the lips, are really smooth and the feel is very similar to that of a lip balm. If you have dry lips, these are a boon!
It is not as if these lipsticks have no cons. The biggest one is that they do not last for more than 2 hours on me and that too if I’ve not had any food or drink. I would have also liked to see some more color coverage because on people with pigmented lips, these will hardly show up. Despite the cons, I am quite liking these lipsticks primarily because of their smooth texture and hydrating formula. I think of them as colored lip balms with shimmer and shine 🙂
I’m wearing Raspberry Sorbet on the left and Cocoa Burst on the right. And I need sleep! How tired do I look! 🙁
What do you think of this range? Would you try the lipsticks? Do share in the comments below.
