One skincare product that has made a huge impact on the beauty industry is the Pixi Glow Tonic. People have raved about this product, many consider it to be their Holy Grail of toners and there are endless reviews on it. I started using the product few months back and now, on to my second bottle. Is it worth the hype? Let’s find out.
Pixi Glow Tonic
What is it?
Pixi Glow Tonic is an exfoliating alcohol-free toner, formulated with five per cent glycolic acid – an alpha-hydroxy acid which helps in the removal of dead skin cells. It also contains aloe vera, ginseng and other botanical extracts to nourish and soothe the skin. Basically, the aim of the product is to act on dullness and revitalise skin to reveal a healthy-looking glow and minimised pores.
The toner is free of alcohol so it is suitable for all types of skin. I have combination skin and I have been using it regularly since July. I have not experienced any dryness at all after applying it.
How to Apply?
Pixi says that you can use the Glow Tonic both in the morning and evening, but if your skin starts to feel dry or sensitized, switch to evenings only or even every other evening. To apply, soak cotton pads in the solution and gently sweep across the skin after cleansing, avoiding the eye area. I personally use it twice a day, in the morning and at night as part of my night skin care routine.
Recently, I have been getting a lot of compliments on my skin. People have remarked that my skin is “always glowing” and that too when I don’t have even a speck of makeup on. And I think a lot of the credit goes to the Pixi Glow Tonic. This is one product that I am going to continue using probably for the rest of my life!
Since using it, my skin feels brighter and tighter, and my pores look smaller. After cleansing with a face wash, I apply the liquid to cotton pads and swipe across the skin, paying special attention to areas that are prone to breakouts or need a little extra exfoliation like the cheeks and chin. I follow it up with my regular serum and moisturizer/night cream.
The glycolic acid ensures regular exfoliation so I don’t need to scrub my face that frequently. The appearance of breakouts have gone down drastically since I started using the product. I do ensure that I apply sunscreen during the day because the glycolic acid can make skin more susceptible to sun damage.
Is the hype real? It is! This product is like a facial in a bottle. It hydrates, it soothes, it exfoliates, it makes the skin smooth, it prevents breakouts, it improves the skin’s texture and it is perfect for every skin type. There are various sizes available. 250 ml costs $29, 100 ml costs $15 and 15 ml costs $6.
Glow Tonic To-Go Exfoliating Pads ($18)
Glow Tonic To-Go is a recent launch and it is perfect for travel. These are pads pre-soaked in the Glow Tonic to tone, brighten, hydrate and gently exfoliate skin on the go. Each pack has 60 pads so if you are using them twice a day, the pack will last a month.
This is the ultimate travel-friendly product and saves the hassle of carrying a bottle with you. It does the same work as the liquid tonic. All you need to do is swipe the pad across the face after cleansing and follow it up with your regular serum and moisturiser/night cream. I have taken these pads with me on my last few travels and my skin was sorted.
What do I think of both these products? I join the long list of people who are fans of the Glow Tonic. That says it all!
