Three years back, my laptop suddenly conked off and since it was an old one, the warranty had expired. Repairing the thing therefore turned out to be quite an expensive affair and I had to shell out a pretty big sum to get my laptop up and running. After that incident, I promised myself that in future, every time I buy any electronic product, I will always go for extended warranty. I was not aware of any service that offered extended warranty at that time but when I bought a split AC for my living room from a Reliance Digital store two years later, I was made aware of Reliance resQ.

What is Reliance resQ Care Plan?

It is a comprehensive extended warranty plan, where customers get free service during the plan period, covering the following:

• Functional parts replaced free of cost
• No Labour charges
• Refrigerator & Air-con : Gas + Gas filling charges will not be levied; its FREE
• Includes cost of product transportation, to the service centre from customer residence and return (When required)
• CTV / AC / Panel TV : Remote control is also covered by RCP
• You are entitled for one cleaning service of your product which is under Resq Care Plan period. Standby unit support in case of any delayed service, beyond our control
• Laptop : Free labour for software related problems like OS related, driver install, antivirus software install/ update, etc.
• Available on all days, including Sundays and Public holidays
• Extended working hours, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• 1 service centre for all brands with 1 helpline number and 1 email id

The rates offered for the resQ Care Plan are pretty reasonable and the best part is that they also give you discounts on a number of services. For example, you get 10% off on resQ accessories, Rs 250 off on labour charges for repair of products not covered under RCP, 15% discount on renewal of RCP etc.

When I bought the 1 ton Split AC from Reliance Digital, I went for two year RCP and I paid Rs 4000 inclusive of service tax. So glad I went for the RCP because a few days back, I had to call Reliance resQ for help because there were some problems with the AC blower. In normal circumstances, I would have had to pay to get the thing fixed because the warranty period was over. Thanks to RCP, I did not have to pay a single penny!
