Nilaya, the luxury wallcovering line from Asian Paints, brings richly layered decor into the home with new aesthetic imaginings. Deep colors, patterns and textures inspired from a treasure trove of influences combine to elevate wall decor into wall art. The boundaries of creativity are pushed even further by curated designer collections. Thus Nilaya is proud to unfurl a magnificent new edition of wallcoverings conceived by the inimitable mind of fashion tour de force – Sabyasachi.
Nilaya officially launches next week but I was lucky enough to be sent a preview of the collection through six postcards, a beautiful notebook and a magazine. Sabyasachi’s creations are as rich and layered as the muse that inspires them – India. And Nilaya by Sabyasachi is breathtakingly beautiful! Nilaya is comprised of five collections – India Baroque, Spice Route, Jodhpur, Makhmal and Varanasi.
India Baroque – Decadent Maharajas and their hedonistic lifestyles. This flamboyant collection is a homage to the lavish and extravagant living of the Maharajas of yore.
Spice Route – Of exotic spices and mysterious tales of trade. Cinnamon, cloves and cardamom, bay leaves and star anise; fragrant, exotic and potent. This collection draws its inspiration from the fabled spices of India, enticing traders and travelers across the globe for centuries.
Jodhpur – Whenever you think of blue, think of Jodhpur, Indigo, Prussina, brooding siyahi or fading asmani, Bandhanis, Mothras, painted walls, hand painted pottery, block prints, enamel, rugs amd dhurries, all in myriad shades of Jodhpur blues, inspire this collection.
Makhmal – Fabric for royalty and nobility for centuries. This collection of beautifully rendered flocks represent an era gone by. An era that stood testimony to regality and baroque splendor.
Varanasi – Varanasi stands for art, culture and craftsmanship at its best. This collection draws inspiration from Peeli Kothi where the most exotic, opulent and ethereal saris are traded every day.
Sabyasachi for Nilaya is beauty, luxury and splendor at its best!
