Missed out on celebrating Mother’s Day? Fret not because you still have time to pamper the special lady. Take her to The GT Route at Jameson Inn Shiraz and enjoy the delicious Mother’s Day special menu available till 14th May.
I was invited by The GT Route for a preview of the menu and spent a lovely afternoon chatting with Chef Rupam, fellow blogger Poorna and the lovely Chilka. Chef explained that he has included within the menu some of The GT Route bestsellers and has tried to give a good mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian north Indian and Bengali dishes. His favorites are Narkel Postor Bora, Murgh Hazrat Mahal, Dal Dum Niyazi, Lahori Gosht, Gosht Biryani and Kesar Pista Phirni.
Remember the Katrina Kaif Aamsutra ads and her expression of pure bliss while drinking from the bottle? If I was not in the company of so many people at Khandani Rajdhani last week, I would have given the same expression while drinking their famous Aamras. That pretty much describes how good it was right?
Khandani Rajdhani at Park Street (next to Park Hotel) is celebrating the arrival of the king of fruits with the Aamlicious Festival, on till 15th June. Every day, 2-3 ripe and raw mango dish will be included in their regular thali and the dishes will keep changing everyday. So one day you might have Kairi Chana Dal Dhokla or Mango Kofta Pulao and another day, you might get Kairi Samosa Sabzi, Malabari Mango Kadhi or Mango Pachadi. The majestic Aamras will remain a constant throughout the course of the festival.
Restaurant Week is back and that means a celebration of the finest culinary experiences at formal fine dining restaurants in India. For details on the event check out this post but in essence, Restaurant Week showcases three-course set menus priced at a fraction of a la carte rates. Baan Thai at The Oberoi Grand is one of the participating restaurants and I went with my friend to savor the delicacies that are part of the special menu.
Baan Thai opened in Kolkata more than ten years back and it still is probably the best place where you can get authentic Thai food in the city. And the menu that has been curated for Restaurant Week includes some of their best and most popular vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Selecting what I wanted to have was proving to be a difficult task but thankfully I was rescued by the Chef who said he would send me an assortment of his favorite dishes.
Last week, I attended a fun event at Shisha Bar Stock Exchange. Shantanu Sengupta, United Spirits Brand Ambassador took an exciting cocktail making masterclass for us bloggers and the theme was cricket. We learned how to make cocktails such as ‘Smirnoff PowerPlay’ and ‘Summer Cricket’ and also got to play the role of a mixologist! I created Smirnoff Cool Off, a refreshing drink made with Smirnoff 21, lychee juice, cranberry juice, lime water and rose water. And if I may add, did a pretty good job 🙂
Shantanu was a very good teacher explaining to us the nuances of making and serving cocktails – sharing tips and tricks on how to pour a drink, how to stir properly and how to taste a drink before serving to someone else. The best part about the session was that he chose cocktails which don’t require too many ingredients, are very easy to make and apt for summer.
Here are a few recipes if you want to try your hand at making some delicious cocktails at home.
