Designer Jyoti Sachdev Iyer recently relaunched her brand and her one-stop style store is now located at Hazra in Kolkata. I recently visited the sprawling 1000 ft sq store, designed with shades of grey tinted with gold sprays and had a chat with Jyoti and also took a look at her wonderful creations.
Jyoti started her fashion career after completing a course from NIFT in 1998. Initially, she set up an independent studio in New Delhi and then shifted base to Bangalore. In 2013, Jyoti expanded her base to Kolkata, setting up a design cum manufacturing studio to supplement her Bangalore unit. Jyoti’s garments are available pan India in all high-end multi-designer stores like Evoluzione, Ffolio, Fuel, Amara, Ensemble etc. Abroad, her clothes are available at Onitaa London, Aara Dubai, The Grand Trunk in USA.
As a contemporary designer, heavily embellished garments are not her favorites. She loves pastels and believes more in “styling and draping of garments rather than embellishments“. Keeping the monsoons in mind, she has specially designed a collection in which colors and silhouettes are carefully woven together. Lighter fabrics like georgette, chiffon and lawns have been used to ensure that women feel comfortable yet trendy. Hues of aqua blues and greens, peaches and beige accentuate the collection, thus giving it the name “Shades of Rain“.
Here are a some of Jyoti’s designs.
