A friend of mine suddenly decided that she would quit her long time job to start off something on her own. She had a great idea, pitched it to her dad who agreed to fund initially, there were months of discussion and planning, she took up a tiny office, hired two people and thus her start-up venture was launched. Being a close friend, I was involved from the planning to implementation stage and therefore was a part of all the ups and the downs. I was watching this hilarious video created by Vistaprint on the difference between the dreams of Start Up Entrepreneurs and their often comical realities and I could relate so well to those scenarios having seen some of them first hand.
My friend had set up an online shop and she hired a fresh out of college boy to look after the technical side of her business and manage the website. What used to happen was that most days this boy would come up with one excuse or the other to not come to work and my friend would have to be the whole and sole person managing her business. From negotiating with suppliers, to checking for orders on her website, to managing her accounts, sending out orders, managing her office etc. So owner-accountant-hr manager-peon, all rolled into one! And she would get frustrated sometimes and rant against the typical Chalta Hai attitude of those she works with.
That was just one of the scenarios and there are plenty such Start Up problems. One which all start up entrepreneurs will relate to is that scene in the video when the client wants your least expensive service. Do watch this video for a good laugh and also think if your local printer is also behaving the same way with you. Yes? Then #chaltahaikochaltakaro and go to Vistaprint for all your printing needs!
