A few weeks back I attended the #Instaxicated bloggers meet with Fujifilm India where I got introduced to the Instax history, played with the entire range of Instax cameras and especially, the newly launched Instax Mini 8.
In today’s age of instant pictures, instant viewing and instant uploading, we have forgotten how it feels to physically hold a picture and relive those memories. Fujifilm wanted us to go back to those days and that is the reason behind the creation of the very popular Instax range of cameras. As explained by Abha Mary Xess, Manager of Corporate Branding, PR & Media relations of Fujifilm India, Instax is a unique product, the only one of its kind that “enables users to create photos that are unique, immediate, and remain with them forever.”
Before the bloggers meet, I had never even seen an Instax camera and had no idea how it worked. The introductory session therefore with Abha and later, Ritesh, a popular Kolkata photographer was definitely very helpful. The best thing about the meet was the fact that we got to play around with all the Instax models that were there and it was so much fun! Thank you Fujifilm for the wonderful evening and for my very own Instax Mini 8 Bundle which I am loving a lot!
The Instax Mini 8 Bundle is a new launch and includes an Instax Mini 8 camera, 2 X Twin film pack, stickers and photo frames. Priced at Rs 5999 this is perfect as a gift or you can buy it for yourself too. I got the Mini 8 in the shade white and there are seven fun colors to choose from. It obviously looks very cute and is definitely a great conversation starter. Anyone who sees it wants to get their hands on it. The camera has the following features:
- Brightness Adjustment Dial – Automatically determines the best brightness for taking a picture, and informs you of the suitable setting by lighting the corresponding lamp. Turn the brightness adjustment dial to the position (mark) of the lit lamp.
- High-key Photo – Setting the brightness adjustment dial to the high-key mode mark allows you to take pictures with a softer impression.
- Constant Firing Flash – It helps you get clear pictures even when the light is relatively low.
What I like about the camera is that it is quite easy to use and the pictures come out with a retro-filter like finish. Don’t compare the image quality to that of a SLR/DSLR but the pictures actually come out quite well. The price of the film packs is slightly high and I really hope Fuji takes care of that bit.
Every time I click a picture with the Instax, it brings a smile to my face and takes me back to the good, old days. And for that, I love the camera.
