The liquid lipstick craze is getting stronger by the day with brands coming up with new launches, new formulas and new packaging practically every month. By now you must have known what a big fan I am of matte liquid lipsticks hence when the Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip range launched, I was obviously intrigued. Interesting packaging, beautiful colors and the name Bobbi Brown. What set me back was the price. In India, these are available for Rs 2600 ($28.00) and even for a die-hard liquid lipstick fan, a bit too much. I was going back and forth over whether I should buy one or not when my friend M turned into a lipstick fairy and gave me the shade Papaya as a gift. Read on to know what I think of this new launch.
Bobbi Brown has taken the classic BB product, Art Stick and re-purposed it into a liquid lipstick. The packaging is very unique. Unlike other liquid lipsticks, these are housed in a chubby, squeezy tube. All you need to do is squeeze the tube and apply the product straight to the lips. I am kinda on the fence regarding the packaging though. Traditional doe-foot applicators allow for a precise application but the squeezy tube does not so that is a bit of a problem. A bit of effort is required to spread the product on the lips and apply evenly. Plus, the tip also gets very messy and has to be wiped off after application and that leads to product wastage. However, on the other hand, a squeezy tube is more hygienic. You can also control how much product you want to dispense and that gives you the option to opt for various looks. You can use it as a stain, go for the bitten lips look or full coverage.
Coming to the formula, it feels practically weightless on the lips. It is creamy, goes on smoothly and evenly and settles to a semi-matte finish. Papaya is a bright orange/coral and is very well pigmented. The color lasts for nearly 5-6 hours and does not make my lips dry. It is not transfer-proof. If you are not a fan of the drying matte liquid lipsticks, you will like this formula.
On the left, I am wearing Papaya as a stain and on the right, as a full coverage liquid lipstick.
The Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip range is a winner from the brand. Other than some issues with the packaging, I quite like this formula. Of course, the price is very high but then, it is from Bobbi Brown.
Have you tried any of the Art Stick Liquid Lips? What do you think of the range? Do share in the comments below.
