If you’ve been thinking of booking an appointment at a spa, now is the right time because India Spa Week 2016 is here. India Spa Week 2016 is a celebration of 10 days of relaxation from 26th February – 6th March where 15 spas across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad are coming together to offer special discounted rates. To view the entire list of participating spas and offers, check out their website and Facebook page. In Kolkata, eleven spas are participating.
The spa of my choice was La Thai Spa at City Centre 2, Rajarhat. I was contemplating whether to get an aromatherapy body massage or a head, neck, shoulder massage and after much deliberation went for the latter. My masseuse also suggested I add on a foot massage and I gladly accepted. Since I had to go to work after the session, I went for a dry massage. The entire session lasted for an hour.
I liked the ambience of La Thai Spa. Even though it is located in a very busy mall, once you open the door and get inside, you immediately feel relaxed because of the low lighting and the fragrance from the candles and oil burners. I was taken to a room and asked to lie down on my stomach on a mat. For the next 40 minutes, my masseuse used her thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, feet, knees and even shins to press and stretch my body. Initially, I found the deep pressure techniques to be a bit painful but got used to it soon. At the end of the massage, I was relaxed, refreshed and my back felt so much better. The foot massage for 20 minutes was also super relaxing. I’ll definitely go back and will probably make it a monthly routine. For people like us who spend hours sitting on a chair staring at a laptop, a good massage is really required and I am happy with the one I got at La Thai Spa.
Like I said, 26th Feb-6th March is a good time to book yourself a spa appointment. Make use of the offers available!
