When I first heard the term Selfie Straightener, I imagined it to be of a small size that you can carry around in your bag, which would run on batteries and whenever you would need to touch up your hair for a quick selfie or for any other reason, you would just switch it on, the plates would get heated up and you would straighten your hair. Most of what I had imagined is there except the battery part. This needs to be plugged in like a regular straightener but the good thing is that the ceramic plates get heated up very fast and they do a good job in straightening the hair.
This product is primarily targeted towards the young selfie crazy college going crowd who are on the lookout for affordable products that won’t max out their pocket money. But obviously that does not mean, we, the older bunch can’t use it. It is a very handy product for working professionals. It is small in size and lightweight so you can carry it in your bag and touch up your hair quickly at office whenever needed. Like I mentioned earlier, the ceramic plates heat up in a minute but there is a con. This straightener has no temperature control so basically, if it gets very hot, the only option is to switch it off. I’m glad for the ceramic plates though which provide protection to the hair.
I don’t like the poker straight look so I’ve never gone for that. I usually only straighten the crown and the ends slightly so that my hair looks neat yet wavy. It takes me around 8-10 minutes to get the hair I have in the picture below. If you want straighter hair, it will take longer.
The new Philips Selfie Straightener is a good, basic, affordable straightener. The name is gimmicky but this thing actually does a pretty good job. It does not have the frills of a high-end and higher priced hair straightener but at Rs 1,195, it provides good value for money.

I remember wondering what the selfie straightener was all about when you first posted a picture on instagram! The straightener looks lovely and I like how it isn’t bulky like the others and I do agree that no temp control is a con. Will definitely suggest this one to a friend of mine who has been hunting for a good and affordable straightener
