What is the key to flawless makeup? Not really the products but what is key is how you blend those products and to do that, it is essential to invest in good quality tools. For some, makeup brushes work and for some, makeup sponges. I fall in the latter category because I think when it comes to cream products especially foundation, sponges work best because you can control the amount of product you apply as well as the coverage. The Beauty Blender has been my absolute favorite for the last couple of years but I’m happy to have found a product that matches up to the BB. Plus, it is made in India and easily available. Read on to know more about the YBP Makeup Perfector in Lust.

Price – Rs 1200. You can buy for Rs 999 at www.ybpcosmetics.com. They have COD and Free Shipping.
Packaging – They have put a lot of thought into the packaging of the product and I like how versatile it is. The container is made of plastic and has a tin lid. The lid can double up as a mixing tray so if you want to mix products and currently, do it at the back of your hand, just use the lid.
See the picture of the container and you will notice that it has a few holes in it. That is to ensure the sponge dries up easily and this is particularly helpful when you are travelling. If you keep wet sponges in containers that are air-tight, after a few days, you will see the appearance of mold and that means the death of the sponge. This container will ensure the sponge remains healthy and hygienic for a long time. The BB does not have this packaging so here, YBP definitely scores.
Texture – There are two variants of the YBP Makeup Perfector. One is white which is meant for sensitive skin and other is the black one which I have. The sponge is meant to be used wet. Put it under flowing water and you will see it swelling up. Squeeze the excess water and wait for a few minutes before applying your makeup. The sponge is made without latex so it is really soft and not at all harsh against the skin. Plus, it has the right amount of density which means that it blends the product without sheering it out. Some sponges tend to absorb product so you need to reapply to be able to get the coverage you want. This one does not do that.
Shape – The tear-drop shape is similar to that of the BB but the YBP has a wider base. The pointy end is meant to help reach areas like the inner corner of the eyes and sides of the nose. This end is great for applying concealer. The sides are perfect to contour while the bottom is perfect to apply foundation and to push the product into the skin. You can pretty much use this sponge to apply anything on the face – color corrector, foundation, concealer, highlighter, blush. Just that it works best with cream and liquid products.
Washing the sponge is pretty easy. I soak it in a baby shampoo+water solution for about 10 mins and then rinse it thoroughly. It gets dry easily and retains its shape. Also, I have not seen any wear and tear yet.
The price of the YBP Makeup Perfector is definitely steep and I wish it was slightly lower but again, the quality is much better than any sponge that is currently available in India. Compared to the BB, I can hardly notice any difference so why not support something that is made in India and easily available?
