The Body Shop India Jacqueline’s Signature Line 2.0 Review & Makeup Look

January 26, 2018

Jacqueline Fernandez, face of The Body Shop India is out with her second limited edition makeup collection in collaboration with the brand. This time around, The Body Shop India Jacqueline’s Signature Line 2.0 includes a matte foundation, mascara, eye shadow crayon and shine lip liquid. I have five products from the collection and in this post, will be sharing my thoughts on them and showing you a makeup look that I created using these five products. Let’s get started.

Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation (Rs 1195) – This is a matte high coverage foundation, available in seven shades. I have Moluccan Nutmeg and it is the perfect match for my NC43.5 skin tone. This foundation is said to have mattifying clay and purifying tea tree so it should be good for those with oily skin. I was in London last two weeks and wore this foundation extensively. I really like the matte, natural finish, the good coverage, the fact that it is light and does not clog pores and that it does not oxidise. However, I have only used it in freezing temperatures so the real test will be when I wear it in summer. If it stays matte in that humidity as well then I’ll become a fan for life.

Lash Hero Fibre Extension Mascara (Rs 1395) – This is a two-step mascara, combining a base mascara formula with lengthening fibres. The mascara is available in four shades and I have Texas Topaz, a bright blue. Usually with coloured mascara, the colour hardly shows up on the lashes but this one is different. You can clearly make out the blue and it stays for a long time without fading or irritating the eyes. The lengthening fibres instantly volumises and extends the appearance of lashes. This one is a winner for me.

High-definition Metallic Eye Colour Stick (Rs 945) – I am extremely fond of coloured liners and eye shadow pencils and if you are as well, you will love them. I have the shade Bogota Emerald, a beautiful metallic dark green teal colour. The stick is very easy to use and can be worn both as an eye shadow and eye liner. It is soft, easy to blend and stays for a long time without budging and fading. There are some very pretty shades in this range so definitely check them out. I am eyeing Siberian Quartz and Cyprus Bronze.

Illuminating & Nourishing Shine Lip Liquid (Rs 645) – Basically, these are shiny, moisturising lip glosses but very light and non-sticky. I have two shades – Apple Taffy, a light peachy nude (that does not make me look like a ghost) and Watermelon Fizz, a bright coral. Usually, I stay away from lip glosses but these have been really helpful in winter. They don’t make the lips dry, and the colours and the shine add freshness to the overall look. As with all glosses, they don’t stay long but the colours are really pretty and can be a good option if you are looking for something that’s more subtle. You can also layer them on top of matte lipsticks for the extra shine and to get more wear time.

Day To Evening Makeup Look For Durga Puja

September 19, 2016

Kolkata is gearing up to welcome the Goddess in all her glory. The hoardings are up, pandals have started to make an appearance, people are rushing to finish their puja shopping and in general, there is chaos in the city. This chaos we all eagerly look forward to every year and I’m just counting days like every Bengali, whether in Kolkata or outside, for the Goddess to arrive. I’m sure you all are busy figuring out what outfit and makeup you will wear during those five days and to make matters slightly easy, I’m here with a Day To Evening Makeup Look option for you.

If you have been a regular visitor to the MAC stores in Kolkata, I’m sure you have come across Druna and Prajwal, both very good makeup artists. Druna is now branching out on her own and she shared two looks for Durga Puja especially for the readers of Pout Pretty on model Manju.

Day Makeup Look By Druna

Considering the climate, this time it will be quite hot and humid during the Pujas so heavy makeup is out of question. Go for light makeup during the day. Mix your foundation with moisturizer for a natural finish.  Add a wash of light eye shadow with a hint of peach on the cheeks, add kohl in the water line and on the lids, a thin liner with a slight wing to give the look a touch of tradition in case you are wearing a traditional or indo-western outfit. Complete the look by adding a n*de/light pink lip color, some mascara and touch up the brows, again keeping it natural. No Instagram brows please!

Day To Night Makeup Look

Evening Makeup Look By Prajwal

For the evening, just touch up your base makeup and go for dramatic eyes that is again not OTT. Just add some dark brown/black to the outer corners of the eye, apply a mascara that adds volume and lengthens the lashes, contour the face to add some dimension and apply highlighter for added shine. Change the lip colour from the n*de/neutral pink to a slightly deeper pink to brighten up the face. And that is it. You are ready to dazzle!

Do you see how easy it is to transition from a day to evening makeup look? Thanks Druna and Prajwal for your inputs and if you want to see more such looks on the blog, let me know in the comments below.

Druna is conducting a makeup workshop to teach the basics like smokey eyes, highlighting and contouring and the ‘no makeup look’ at a very nominal rate of Rs 1000. If you want to book your place, call her now for details.

Summer Makeup Look Featuring Kat Von D Lolita & ColourPop Coconut + Mini Reviews

March 13, 2016

A makeup look after a long time and in this one, I used two very popular products. Kat Von D‘s Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick has reached cult status. Everyone raves about this shade and the texture so I finally gave in to the mania and got myself one. The other product is an eyeshadow from ColourPop and its called Coconut. I would have imagined something called Coconut to be a white or a brown color but ColourPop is not as unimaginative as I am so they created a bright peacock teal. Lets get down to the reviews first.

Colourpop Coconut and Kat Von D Lolita

Kat Von D Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20)

I now get why this lipstick is so popular. The shade is described as a ‘chestnut rose’ and is a universally flattering color. On me, it is a light brown. It has a lightweight, mousse like texture, applies really well and settles to a matte finish. Gives good color coverage and the best part is that it does not dry out lips and you don’t feel uncomfortable. MAC’s Whirl, Spice and the more affordable Maybelline Lip Gradation Mauve 1 are close dupes though none of them are liquid lipsticks.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow Coconut ($5)

I’ve become a fan of ColourPop eyeshadows. They are so well pigmented and have a unique texture. Coconut is described as a ‘bright peacock teal in a pearlised finish’. On me, the color looks more blue. The Super Shock shadows feel soft, creamy and kinda ‘wet’ to the touch and they are best applied with fingers. They blend easily though. The color stays for nearly five hours without creasing.

And here is the breakdown of the makeup look.

Eyes – I’ve used Coconut on my lids and water line and a warm brown shadow from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette on the crease. To highlight the brow bone, I used TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer highlighter. Used the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara.

Face – Mixed Bourjois Happy Light Foundation in Rose Beige with the Faces Illuminator in Champagne. I also dusted a bit of Mary Lou-Manizer on the cheekbones and used MAC Hipness blush.

Lips – Kat Von D Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Do let me know in the comments below what you think of it and if you want to see more makeup looks on the blog. Till next time, Ciao ♥

Orange Makeup Look Featuring MAC Lady Danger & Jewelry From Limeroad.com

May 26, 2015

Orange Makeup Look

Orange Makeup Look

Orange is a color that I find quite tricky to pull off. It looks lovely inside lipstick bullets but not all shades work on me. Some make me look really sallow while some are way too ‘orange’. I’ve tested a number of shades and found that reddish-orange colors with warm undertones work best on my skin tone. And my favorite of all reddish-orange lipsticks is the legendary MAC Lady Danger. I thought of doing a look pairing Lady Danger with jewelry that I got from LimeRoad which also have a hint of orange.
