If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, you will know that I was part of a fun ‘Sleepover’ organised by The Body Shop a couple of weeks back. They sent me a huge box full of products needed for a good night’s sleep that included a pillow, eye mask, stress ball, hot chocolate and the star of the sleepover, the new Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask. I tried out the mask that night and woke up to fresh, radiant skin the next morning. I’ve been using it quite regularly now and so, time for a review post.

My Thoughts On The Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask
When I opened the tub for the first time, my reaction was “Is that sticky melted cheese like thing really a face mask?”. I’ve used a few Korean sleeping masks but their texture was unlike this. They were light and absorbed into the skin quite fast but the texture of the Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask reminded me of gelatine. That first night, I made the mistake of applying the mask directly on to my face using the tiny spoon included in the packaging and it was sticky! It took ages for the mask to absorb and it felt like the product was just sitting on top of my face for hours. When I woke up, some hair was stuck to my face and I felt irritated. That irritation however vanished when I washed off the mask and saw how clean, fresh and rejuvenated my skin looked.
Here are a couple of pictures from the first night of using the Bouncy Sleeping Mask. See how the mask sits on my skin and how greasy it looks. And see how fresh I look in the morning after washing it off?
The second day, I was wiser because I got to know how this mask should be applied. There is a specific massage technique created by Dr Terry, The Body Shop’s Global Skincare Expert and it involves five steps. Check this video to know how to apply the mask correctly and get the best out of it.
Once I got to know the correct technique, the mask did not feel that sticky. You only need a tiny amount and it absorbs really well. What I do is, after washing my face at night, I apply a serum, wait till it gets absorbed, then apply the mask on top of the serum and I’m off to bed. The smell is relaxing and I think it also helps to get a good night’s sleep. When I wake up in the morning, I wash my face and voila, I have hydrated, soft skin.
The mask can be applied every night and it is very gentle on the skin. I have not experienced any breakout or irritation. It is suitable for all skin types, particularly for dry and dehydrated skin. The product does not contain parabens and mineral oil. At Rs 2295, it is expensive but it is a 90 ml tub, you only need a tiny amount and it will last for a good 3-4 months if used daily. The packaging is not travel friendly at all though. Too bulky and since it’s made of glass, you have to be extra careful.
The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask with it’s unusual texture has bowled me over. I no longer need to apply a night cream because the mask does the job of nourishing my skin. Give it a try.

Geez! That sounds amazing. If it was available in NZ, I’d buy it this very second! My dry skin craves moisture.
