Last week I attended a very interesting event in Mumbai courtesy Pond’s. It is quite impossible to find someone who has not used a Pond’s product. Do you know who is behind the creation of all these wonderful products? It is The Pond’s Institute, formed to bring together years of skincare science and first-to-market innovative product formulas. Through a global network of over 700 scientists, The Pond’s Institute analyses the evolving needs of different skin types around the world, uncovers insights on how these skin factors influence people’s perceptions and designs molecules clinically proven to deliver superior skin results. The Pond’s Institute was recreated in Mumbai for a day and the event was attended by Dr. Shuliang Zhang, Sr. Principal Scientist, and Global Clinical Leader for Skin Care, Unilever, Prabha Narasimhan, Vice President Skincare – India, Unilever, expert dermatologist Dr. Aparna Santhanam and brand ambassadors Ileana D’Cruz and Amy Jackson.
Dr. Shuliang Zhang spoke about modern day skin care problems, the triggers to these problems and presented a deep dive into the Pond’s Institute. Virtual zones were created at the venue which demonstrated the science behind all these skincare innovations.
The first product that was launched at the event by brand ambassador Ileana D’Cruz was the ‘My Skin Advisor’ web- application. This web app is designed to provide in-depth skin analysis using facial recognition technology and recommend a skincare regime tailored to the skincare needs of the consumers on the go. I tried out the app at the venue and it is really cool. All that you need to do is first select your desired skin goal, then either click or upload your photo, enter your age, skin type, daily habits and the app will not only give you an analysis of your skin but will also recommend the products that you can use to combat the skin problems. Try it out!
The next new launch was the Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash. Formulated with pimple-fighting Active Thymo-T Formula, this face wash is clinically proven to help clear pimples in just three days to give beautifully smooth, clearer skin on the outside. Amy Jackson, the face of Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash, was present to unveil the product. This sounds like a boon to those with oily and acne prone skin so I am really curious to find out if this actually lives up to its ‘clear pimples in 3 days claim’. I have the face wash with me so watch out for a review!
Post the event, we bloggers caught up with Dr Zhang, Ileana and Amy and had a chat on all things skincare and more. Watch out for a separate post on the interactions. I had a great time at the event and I thank Pond’s for the invite. Not only did it give me a chance to get to know about The Pond’s Institute but it also gave me an opportunity to catch up with my Mumbai blogger friends after nearly two years! Here are some more pictures from the event.
