One of my favorite places to eat Italian food in Kolkata, Alla Bella Mozzarella now has a new menu. I was invited to a blogger’s meet by the restaurant on a lazy Sunday afternoon to try out the new dishes and I was floored! Old favorites like Roasted Bell Pepper Soup, Caesar Salad, Spaghetti di prawn aglio and the beautiful Wood-fired Chocolate fondant continue to be part of the menu but I may have found some new favorites.
Tucked inside a quiet Ballygunge Place lane is Alla Bella Mozzarella, the newest Italian restaurant in town. My friends Poorna and Shikha were speaking very highly of this new restaurant so on Mother’s Day, I dropped in with my parents. It’s only been a couple of months since Alla Bella Mozzarella opened but the restaurant has already become really popular. We went in around 1 pm and only a few tables were available. Within 15 mins those got booked too and then, there were people standing outside waiting to get a free table. Queues in front of a restaurant can only mean one thing. Good food and yes, Alla Bella Mozzarella serves really good Italian food!

The 1st edition of the Restaurant Week in Kolkata, gives food lovers the opportunity of experiencing a three course set meal in a fine dining restaurant, with an option of vegetarian or non-vegetarian meal preference at a set price [INR 900 plus taxes] per person for one week for lunch and dinner. Last Friday I was invited to Serafina, the North Italian cuisine restaurant at Quest Mall and I can honestly say that I had one of my best meals in recent times that day. Serafina is the brainchild of owners Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato and Kolkata is their third location in India after Mumbai and Bangalore.
I loved the relaxed atmosphere and the European cafe like vibe with the addition of tables outside the main restaurant. And in keeping with its Italian roots, there is also a Vespa parked outside :D. The traditional woodstone pizza oven is a standout feature in the outlet and once you have the pizzas, you can figure out the difference in taste between a regular pizza and one that has the wood fired flavor . They also have a well-stocked bar with a variety of wines and liquor.
