Have you been to Gabbar’s, the fun Bollywood themed restaurant in Kolkata? If you haven’t, book a table right now because they are out with an all new menu. From Curry Apple Martini to Rome Ali Pizza to the evergreen Kochi Pathaar Jhol to Mango Cigars, the new menu is an interesting concoction of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. I was invited by Gabbar’s to sample the new dishes last week and it was one delightful gastronomic experience.
Barbeque Nation, Park Street, Kolkata – Review
Whenever we want to go for a team lunch or dinner from office, the choice is unanimous. It is always Barbeque Nation at Sector V. I’ve been going there since the time the restaurant opened up in Kolkata nearly seven years back and I absolutely love the place. People who stay in central or south Kolkata have been complaining that they have to come to Salt Lake to enjoy the food. Good news guys. Barbeque Nation is now open at Park Street and it is much bigger than its Sector V counterpart.
The Yellow Straw, Kolkata – Review
When a smoothie and juice bar opens up five outlets in a span of thirteen months, you know they are doing something right. I had heard great things about The Yellow Straw but it was only till I visited their restaurant last weekend did I understand what the craze was all about. The Yellow Straw is the brainchild of two ex corporate honchos, Piyush and Vikram, who decided that starting off something on their own was much more rewarding than slogging it out for someone else. They realized that the juice bar concept in Kolkata had not yet caught on and thus started The Yellow Straw.
Paris Cafe, Salt Lake Sector V, Kolkata – Review
In the heart of the very busy Salt Lake Sector V office area lies a charming cafe, the second outlet of the very popular Paris Cafe. I was in the mood to try out a new place for lunch and was checking out the Salt Lake area restaurant listings on Askme.com. That was when the name Paris Cafe struck and immediately we friends decided to try it out.
Good Times At The Irish House, Kolkata
The Irish House at Quest Mall in Kolkata opened mid last year and ever since, it has become one of my favorite places to hangout in the city. I love the ambience, the decor, the feel of the place, the retro music and these guys make a pretty mean Mexican Mojito. I must admit that I always go there during Happy Hours which is from 4 pm – 7 pm every day (don’t judge me but the 1+1 offer is way too tempting) and I’ve never really eaten much except nachos, tacos and fries. On Saturday, I was invited by The Irish House for brunch along with a few fellow bloggers and I got to taste some dishes from their pretty extensive menu and I was impressed. Not only do they make excellent cocktails and serve great draught beer, their main course items and desserts are good too.
